Spurs are now investigating a move to sign the big-money PL star

Last night was something to forget Tottenham.
By Andze Postecoglou The team had the chance to turn their season around and deal a huge blow to Arsenal’s ambitions at the same time, but eventually let go of a 1-0 lead to take 11th place Premier League defeat of the campaign.
Impressively, it was the youngsters like Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall who produced the best performances for the Lilywhites, while the senior players were painfully ineffective or practically anonymous.
Even a scorer Son Heung-min has been disappointing for most of the game, so recent reports linking the club with a potential replacement this month should come as no surprise.
Tottenham are chasing Son’s successor
According to a recent report from Football TransfersTottenham Hotspur are one of a number of high-profile clubs interested in signing the Manchester United star Alejandro Garnazzo this month, the sale of which is not off the table.

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big name failures. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across the Football FanCast.
In fact, the report revealed that the Lilywhites have “set their sights” on the winger, have made “specific enquiry” into his availability and may now be ready to test the Red Devils’ resolve with a bid in the region of €. 70 million, which is about 59 million. £.
However, fans shouldn’t get too carried away just yet as the report also named European giants Napoli and Atletico Madrid as some of the interested parties.
It could be a complicated and expensive transfer to get over the line, but given Garnacho’s current ability and the potential many believe he has, it’s worth pursuing, especially as Son can’t be relied upon long-term.
How does Garnacho compare to Son
Now, the first thing to say is that over the last decade or so, there have been few players as brilliant as Sean in the Premier League, and when he finally hangs up his boots or moves on, he will be rightly remembered as a legend of the league.
That said, time catches up with us all, and with him turning 33 in the summer, the club need to find a long-term replacement and be quick, as even he can still get a goal here and there. Most fans will attest to the fact that he has less and less of an impact on games with each passing campaign.
So, with that in mind, how will he deal with young Garnacho? From a pure production perspective, it’s a very closely fought affair.
For example, in 26 appearances, a total of 1825 minutes this season, the Spurs captain has scored eight goals and provided seven assists for Postecoglou, who averages a goal involvement every 1.73 games or every 121.66 minutes.
On the contrary, the young Argentine has scored as many goals goal but provided five assists in 30 appearances, a total of 1641 minutes, so he averages a goal involvement every 2.30 games or every 126.23 minutes.
So, with little to separate the pair with their performance, how do they stack up against each other when we take a look under the hood at their underlying numbers?
Interestingly, while the South Korean international leads in a number of metrics including progressive passes, goal-creating shots and actions, passing accuracy and key passes per 90, he comes in second best overall.
For example, United’s “dangerous” gem, as compiled by Paul Scholeshe does better in a host of attacking metrics such as non-penalty goals plus assists, forward buttons, shots and shots on goal and brings into the penalty area per 90, but also much better for defenders.

Not only does he make and win more tackles, he wins more aerial duels, completes more ball recoveries and makes more interceptions and blocks, also all per 90.
What makes it even more impressive is the fact that he is so young and has many years to reach before he reaches his prime, which for a wide forward is around 26, according to in the survey conducted by The Athlete in 2021.
Ultimately, Son is a bona fide legend, but he is nearing the end of his prime and Spurs need to find a dynamic, game-changing replacement, which by all accounts could be Garnacho.
