Pixel 8 Pro’s broken back gesture is fixed

During the Android 15 update, some users started experiencing issues with gestures on their Pixel 8 Pro. According to Google, this bug will be fixed in an upcoming update.

Got the Pixel 8 Pro Update to Android 15 simultaneously with many other Pixel devices. The update brings last year’s flagship up to speed with some of Google’s best features. The update mainly includes quality-of-life features, with most AI tools coming in updates to Google apps.

Immediately after this update, some Pixel 8 Pro users noticed that the back gesture, which is used by swiping your finger from the edge of the screen, suddenly broke. According to those usersswiping from the right side of the screen just doesn’t work 99% of the time. Some users have reported that their Pixel 8 Pro is almost unusable due to the problem.

There was no fix for this bug, and it’s still a problem for the Pixel 8 Pro.

In an update official issue tracker theme availableGoogle support said the back gesture bug will be fixed “in a future release.” The note does not specify which update will fix the bug or when it will be available.

It’s likely that the fix will be rolled into security patches that include minor updates meant to fix issues like the one mentioned in February. The Pixel 8 Pro is among this group of devices receiving monthly updates as it is in its second year of seven promised security updates.
