AC Milan now plotting move to sign ‘special’ Chelsea ace in returnee Tomori

With Chelsea Keen to clear any dead wood still lurking from previous transfer failures, Italian giants AC Milan are now reportedly planning a January move to sign a defensive addition who could quickly follow in Fikayo Tomori’s footsteps.

Chelsea transfer news

Having forced a number of players to watch from the reserves in the first half of the season, Chelsea must now use the January transfer window to show struggling players the door. That should include the likes of Ben Chilwell, who has gone from vice-captain to nothing more than a Stamford Bridge outcast in a shocking fall from grace.

Desperate for a move – especially if he is to regain his place in England in time for the 2026 World Cup – former club Leicester City have reportedly shown an interest at Chilwell’s signing this month.

Enzo Maresca’s side held initial talks.

He’s not the only one who needs a departure. The likes of Carney Chukwuemeka must also look for minutes away from Stamford Bridge this month. At just 21 years of age, the attacking midfielder represents a young player who cannot afford to waste his development in Chelsea’s reserves.

The same can be said for one of the Enzo MarescaHis defenders, who is long past his development stage and at the peak of his powers – but still in need of the minutes Milan could hand him this month.

According to TEAMtalk, AC Milan are now plotting a January move to sign Tosin Adarabioyo (among three Chelsea teammates) in what could quickly turn into a Tomori repeat. The 27-year-old only arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer but has since struggled to earn a consistent starting place.

In Italy, meanwhile, Milan have seen just how successful such a signing can be after benefiting from Tomori’s arrival before his recent struggles began. Now, with a former Chelsea defender potentially set to leave the San Siro, Adarabioyo could arrive as a new face in the Blues’ back line.

“Specialist” Adarabioyo needs movement

With Trevoh Chalobah recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, Adarabioyo could find himself lower than ever in the Chelsea pecking order and has no time to wait on Maresca’s bench. If Milan come calling, it’s a move the 27-year-old simply has to make at this stage in his career, especially given Tomori’s success in Italy.

At the San Siro the former Fulham defender could recapture the form that has led to much praise from Marco Silva last season. The Fulham boss told reporters (as reported by beIN Sports): “He is a key player for us. He’s one of the leaders in our locker room and we need those guys to step in at the right times and he did.

“We missed him a lot, we missed him because he didn’t play the first three months of the season. Tosin is a special player for us, I can’t hide that situation.”

With just over two weeks until the transfer window closes, Adarabioyo may well watch should Milan decide to make a move.
