Adult Swim’s Common Side Effects gets a promising first trailer

Earlier this year, Netflix finished and went and pulled the plug on Scavengers Reign, one of the best shows of 2023 that was originally on Adult Swim. The good news is that the production company of the show Green Road has a new series coming next year called Common side effects, and looks every bit as visually stunning as Scavengers done
Created by Scavengers co-creator Joe Bennett and of Veep Steve HelyCommon Side Effects focuses on Marshall (Dave King) and Frances (Emily Pendergast), a couple of former high school lab mates who discover a mushroom capable of curing almost any disease. This kind of miracle drug would be an amazing discovery in real life, so it’s no surprise when a host of interested parties show up trying to take it from Marshall, including pharmaceutical corporations hoping to make some money. As he races to try and distribute it to the free world, Frances finds herself wondering if it would be better to sell the mushroom to help secure a promotion.
With last week’s surprise assassination of the CEO of United Healthcare Brian ThompsonThe show is even more topical than it already was: as Marshall points out in the trailer, people spend a lot of money on medicine that seems to work (if it doesn’t), and corporations do tons of money from everyone’s illness. Any comments Common Side Effects provide on the health system of the United States, it will also have the visuals to return. Scavengers Reign won acclaim for its Moebius-inspired art and atmosphere, and this one seems to have a similar vibe. It’s not just the sight of little gray creatures watching people die in an explosion of colors, it’s the more mundane elements, like how it shows people looking so tired and exhausted, both in the hospital and outside.
So colorful we are interested Common Side Effects to hit Adult Swim and Max on February 2, 2025, but if you need more convincing, there’s a six-minute preview below.
