After conquering the vampire movie, Nosferatu’s Robert Eggers tackles werewolves.

Guess that rumor recently Labyrinth restart he has to wait. Robert Eggerswhich is still heavily ridden by the critical praises and box-office receipts of NosferatuHe announced that he will stay in the period-accurate kingdom of monsters for the moment, this time with a werewolf in its center. It also maintains the same release schedule, with Christmas 2026 looking to repeat the success of NosferatuThe fall of Christmas 2024.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Eggers will direct as his next feature Werwulfwhich he co-wrote with Sjón, his writing collaborator The Man of the North. The trade notes that there are not many details for now, but says that “sources say that the story is set in England in the 13th century. The script also features dialogue that was true to the time period and has translations and annotations for the uninitiated to Old English. Initially, Eggers planned to shoot the feature in black and white, but that is no longer the case.”
As well as Nosferatu, Werwulf it will be a Focus Features release. It will be the last historical horror story from Eggers, whose filmography also includes The witch and The Lighthouse. In his filmography he showed a remarkable talent for capturing the details of the period, seen for the first time in 1630 New England of The witch but most prominently, perhaps, in the 1830s in Germany Nosferatuhis biggest box office hit. Writing an entire script in Old English is definitely a bold move for his next chapter.
With the new Universal The wolf man failure to make much of an impact in its first week of release, in time for Christmas 2026, may be a new appetite of the audience for another agonizing transformation under the full moon.
