Allow Mike Tyson to fight at 59 good?
On November 15, last year, the Texas Committee gave former world champion “Iron” Mike Tyson, a 59 -year -old license to fight Jake Paul, 28 years old, via Netflix.
Obviously, it was all about money, not the security of boxers. Tyson who lost to Paul was difficult for this writer a Tyson fan to watch. It looked like he was walking in the cement.
Tyson, in my opinion, was one of the first ten heavy heavy heavy heavy heavyweights who had to need the money to get this fight against an infinite as Paul, who was financial success.
Paul was 10-1 with no amateur experience and, in his ten races, defeated five opponents who made their debut and two with a 0-1 record.
He was sad to see Tyson go through the moves of loss to Paul who should have been an exhibition, not an official race. The scores were 79-73 twice and 80-72 in favor of Paul.
Four days after this period, the Tennessee Committee gave former World Heavyweight Champion Oliver ‘The Atomic Bull’ McCall, 59-14, a return after more than five years at the age of 59 to fight and win Stacy Bigfoot Frazier, 16-22, at the age of 54. Frazier had lost nineteen of his last twenty games and had stopped in thirteen of them. McCall stopped Frazier in two rounds.
In February this year, McCall stopped Gary Cobia, 3-4, who is 52 years old, in the first round, again in Tennessee. On March 18, McCall will have his third match in Tennessee with an opponent named. One may remember that McCall having whatever a nerve damage to a loss, shouting uncontrollably in the ring after one of his losses.
In November 1994, former world champion “Big” George Foreman became the oldest boxer to win a world match title when he won the IBF and WBA World Heavyweight Champion Michael ‘Double M’ Moorer, 35-0, in Nevada.
Earlier, the oldest to win a world title was former World Dimensional Champion Bob Fitzsimmons, who won a 40 -year -old world title.
Recently, former world champion Wladimir ‘Dr. Steelhammer ‘Klitschko, 64-5, announced his possible return to the ring at the age of 49, without competing since 2017, after losing champion Anthony’ Aj ‘Joshua for a second consecutive time. Is this in an attempt at the Top Foreman record in 45?
Where will it end, allowing boxers to fight well 40, let alone close to 60? The death of a fighter in the ring?
