Arsenal’s ‘frustrating’ star may have become their new Mesut Ozil

arsenal ensured their draw with Fulham on Sunday afternoon was not the start of a bad run with a comfortable win against AS Monaco in Champions League last night
Mikel Arteta’s The team were not at their best but a clinical display from Bukayo Saka and some professional performances from much of the squad saw them pick up the three points and all but guarantee their progress to the next round.
However, while most of the Gunners’ squad could pat themselves on the back for a job well done, some flattered to deceive.
In fact, one of the players was so poor and it has been a long time that he could be becoming another Mesut Ozil situation for the manager.
Mesut Ozil’s career at Arsenal
When it comes to memorable Arsenal transfers over the years, there are few, if any, than Ozil’s move to the Emirates on deadline day in 2013.
The German international joined the club from Real Madrid a club record £42.4m and immediately hit the ground running, provide help for Olivier Giroud in his first game away from Sunderland.
For the next few seasons, the “fantastic” feeling, as voiced by Ian Wrighthe proved he’s worth every penny as he stunned fans and opponents alike with his mercurial ability to find virtually anyone anywhere on the pitch with a single sublime pass.
The former Schalke gem racked up a brilliant tally 44 goals and 75 assists in 254 appearances for the club and played a big part in three of their four FA Cup triumphs while in north London, but things didn’t end well.
After signing a mammoth £350,000 per week contract early 2018his performances began to decline, and when Arteta was appointed manager in December 2019, it was clear that his lack of intensity and effort off the ball meant he had no future at N5.
However, due to their rapid decline and high wages, it was a nightmare to continue and the club eventually had to cancel your contract entirely so he could move to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe.
All in all, while Ozil was a world-class talent for much of his Arsenal career, his form fell off a cliff in recent years and he became an incredibly expensive liability , which could be happening to a player on the team today.

The Arsenal player who could be Arteta’s new Ozil
So, to get straight to the point, the player in question is the incredibly gifted one Gabriel Jesusand there are two key reasons.
The first is that, like Ozil, the former Manchester City star went to ground after his £45m transfer in the 22/23 season, accumulating an impressive number of five goals and contributing five assists in 16 league games before the World Cup break, equivalent to an average involvement of one goal every 1.6 games.
However, the Brazil international suffered a serious knee injury in Qatar and he had to undergo surgerywhich kept him out of action until mid-March, after which he looked noticeably less nimble and generally less threatening.
Last season wasn’t terrible for the Sao Paulo forward, though eight goals and eight assists in 36 appearances it wasn’t enough to keep Kai Havertz from taking his place as the team’s starting number nine, and based on his performances this season, it looks like he’ll never get it back.
In 19 appearances, the “frustrating” striker, com dubbed by Micah Richardshas marked one goal and two assists.

Also, last night perfectly encapsulates why this is becoming a problem for the manager.
While he provided the assist for Saka’s opener, the 27-year-old was also incredibly wasteful in front of goal, missing two great chances and making only 23 touches, which more than justifies the It received a rating of 5/10 by journalist Kaya Kaynak.
So, like the German superstar, Jesus has gone from an essential member of the first team to someone unable to contribute in any meaningful way, and he’s also costing the club a fortune, thanks. at a whopping £265,000 per week contract he accepted in 2022.
Finally, it also looks like it will be a serious challenge to move for the former City ace in 2025, as his wages, injury history and appalling form do not make him a desirable proposition for the type of clubs that he would love it join in
Ultimately, Jesus is an undeniably talented footballer, but like Ozil before him, he has reached the end of the road at Arsenal and, at this point, it seems the best option for all parties would be to move on, if so possible
