Ascot tips: Flegmatik wanted big Handicap prize on day two of Winter Million | Racing News

The trio of Weekend Winners return with a look at a busy fortnight of racing, including a top quality card from Ascot.

Along with host Kate Tracey BetVictor’s Sam Boswell and At the Games Declan Rix to discuss what remains of the weekend’s action after leaving Kempton’s Lanzarote Handicap meeting.

The team starts with a look at bet365 Chase handicapheld at Ascot at 2.15pm on Saturday – live Sky Sports Racing

Hosted by Kate Tracey…

“It’s a contest, this. The form line between Kotmask and Martator really interests me, but I’ll go with it Kotmask. Hopefully he can double up on his success a month ago at Ascot over two miles and three furlongs. He managed to find his own way of doing things despite the usual few mistakes, so with his rider sitting tight they could reveal decent form.

“From the same spot as 130 last time, over the distance, she improved marginally to take the success she deserved. She faces her old nemesis Martator here, who beat him on his comeback and even more so in Kotmask’s penultimate start. Kotmask) clearly has enough to find, but when you look at it, they were falling short when considering the claims of the riders in that case. Kotmask will take 15 pounds off Martator here, so I think he’ll reverse the form.”

To Declan Rix of The Races…

“This is a competitive race! I like it Phlegmatic and I wonder if that was the plan for this Dan Skelton trained horse. He has run four times this year, from 16 at 50 and previously from six at 15/2 at Ascot. He was also a decent drifter last time behind Victorino here, but there were signs of life on the day, and he drops the Handicap.

“This is a £100,000 race with £52,000 to the winner and I wonder – as the Skeltons are great target trainers – if this race has been targeted. The drop down in trip will suit him, he has run at Ascot nine times without a win, but he’s in pretty good shape. He’s getting 132, minus three more for Tristan Durrell’s 3kg – so it’s good to go close. let’s go, baby!’

BetVictor’s Sam Boswell…

“I expect my option to drop to an even higher price, but I will continue again Bad – which sometimes lives up to its name. We all know he can be a little tough when he gets to the front, but coming back like this will help.

“Getting him up in trip will help and I think there are quite a few who will go with him in terms of pace. My plan is that a few will take him in the race and the blinkers continue, which might lead to a little improvement. Must have faith and it’s a good price if nothing else.It seems to be running well here and I’m ready to go to the well once again.
