Software & Apps
Ask HN: How many traffic do you serve and which database machine?
Usually appears here that postgres hosted RDS can control 99% of the workloads up to millions of users. I have established an IOT app with a traffic recognition plan of Dynamo partitioned by the user ID (I am familiar with Tradeffs) and all of the postgres. Some services but not microservice (basic: Core Service, Recognition Service, IOT Data Service, Notification Service). Ingesting and monitoring about 1,000,000 iot devices daily (1 packer per device per day
In database posts and discussions here sometimes I know that opinions are strong but numbers are lost. Apparently applications have a lot of traffic differences and query complex apples in apples comparisons are difficult. However I can benefit from hearing some real experience in the world in numbers.
Troubled database questions for current or first application:
1. How many customers do you have?
2. What is the expected daily traffic? Traffic traffic?
3. What database engine or engine are you using?
4. How many rows or how many savings do you have on your DB?
5. What more about your application related for database load?
6. Microservice, service, or monolith. Happy with it?
