Australian GP: Lando Norris sets rhythm as Oliver Bearman suffers from a big crash in the first practice of Melbourne | F1 news

Lando Norris surpassed the first period of the 2025 Formula 1 season at the Australian Grand Prix, as the British recruitment Oliver Bearman suffered a major crash.

Norris had on Thursday he played his status and McLaren as favorite pre-seasons, but shone some of the performance many expect to give the Brit a nice opportunity to claim the F1 title.

He set a time of 1: 17,252s at the closing moments of the meeting to end 0.149s away from Carlos Sainz, who impressed Williams after his transition from Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton was only 12th in his first weekend meeting for Ferrari, ending six tenths of a second behind Charles Leclerc’s teammate, who was third.

Oscar Piasstri was four tenths from McLaren Norris’s teammate in the fourth, while Max Verstappen returned marginally back to Thursday for Red Bull as he began his search for a fifth consecutive driver title.

George Russell finished seventh for Mercedes, but survived a delayed terrorism as he returned after leading to grass 4 and managed to stop his car a little away from obstacles.

Bearman, who leads to his first full -length campaign that made three races last season, caused the second of the two red flags during the meeting as he ran to the gravel at the outlet of Series 10 and then hit the obstacle that failed to regain his Haas control.

This interruption, along with a previous delay to allow gravel to be removed from the track where he had been kicked out of off -line cars at 6, meant that almost one -third of the summit were lost.
