Bandai wants Gundam to take over Tabletop Wargaming

For years, the Gundam franchising has been constantly present in anime, video games, and especially gunpla kit. Another one main show It’s not the only new thing that comes to the famous franchise mecha-Bandai has taken the company in the world of board games.

During the Bandai Card Games Fest weekend, the company announced Gundam Assemble, a board game that sees players use 5cm figures to play out different wargaming scenarios. Some are based inside Assemble’s original story, others “transcend” the franchise, but the overall goal is to be familiar but also distinct. The game’s starting figures, which come out of the box unpainted, each have their own individual abilities, and cover the main beats of the series, from the original to the regional favorites (Ala and seed) and the last major series, Witch of Mercury. At launch, these figures are:

• RX-78-2 PISTOL
• MS-06S ZAKU Ⅱ
• WING GUNDAM ZERO EW
• AERIAL GUNDAM
• KAPOOL
• Archangel

Table games is a new area for Gundam which expanded last year with a revived version of its trading card game. This will be a Gundam-heavy month, actually: along with the North American beta of that game arriving later in the month (before its full launch later in 2025), episodes of the next Gundam: GQuuuuuuX The anime has been cut into a theatrical release that hits Japanese theaters on January 17th. The first model of that series, based on his cool-looking mobile suit, is also hitting sometime this month.

In what way Gundam Assemble? Bandai Namco has yet to reveal a date for that, but said it expects more information — such as pricing, rules, and product specs — later in the year.
