Former Munich Bayern leader Nikos Kovak has been appointed as the new Borussia Dortmund coach in an 18 -month contract.
The 53 -year -old will take responsibility on Sunday after BVB’s game with Heideheim, and replace Nuri Sahin, who was fired last week.
Kovac won the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal Double at Bayern in 2019 and Sportmund’s CEO of Sportmund Lars Riccken told the club’s website: “We had intensive discussions with Niko Kovac in recent days and deliberately gave him time to get to know us Our ourselves and our expectations better.

Dortmund defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 last night to secure a place in the Champions League playoffs, but found the toughest in the Bundesliga.
They sit 11th having won only one of their last 11 games.
