Breaking: USYK vs. Parker ordered WBO, negotiations start immediately
The WBO ordered heavyweight champion Oleksandr usyk (23-0, 14 kos) to face the intermediate holder Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 kos). The two have one month (30 days) to gather an agreement for average wallets with the sanctions body.
Choice of USYK
It will depend on USyk, 38, to determine if he wants to deal with Parker or to focus on a more lucrative race that people are interested in seeing.
Parker rebuilding his career with recent wins in an off-line 310-LB Martin Bole and two older heavy heavyweight, Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.
New Zealand Parker was scheduled to challenge IBF Daniel Dubois champion last month on the 22nd Card in Riyadh, but Dubois took a disease. This would be a very hard fight for Joseph to win because Dubois is at the top and his young man.
Parker has a boring battle style and his personality does not seem to take the fans excited to see him. If USyk treats him, many fans will transfer this match if sold to PPV. Without a big card, the USYK-Parker is an indifferent race.
Fans would prefer to see WBA, WBC and WBO USYK Face Dubois champion for the undisputed championship and not for Parker. He has seen the next heavy heavy heavyweight in the section next to the USYK.
The two of them would be an excellent race. If USyk wins his fight with Parker, he can still face Dubois in a rematch if he is a fight he is interested in.
USYK comes from the back-to-back wins over Tyson Fury and looks hard to beat. He sent Fury to retirement with his recent victory over him on December 21st to their rematch last year.
Parker has to make the most of this opportunity because it has taken him seven years to reach this position after losing the WBO title in 2018 to Anthony Joshua.
