Capital One dealing with service interruptions, especially related to deposits

Capital One continues to experience disruption to its service on Friday, with some frustrated customers unable to view their deposits.
As of 8:04 am Eastern, there have been nearly 3,400 outage reports, according to Downdetector. That’s up from about 2,100 reports earlier Thursday. Most of the complaints seem to come from the eastern half of the United States, but there are reports of problems as far west as Arizona and California.
The company said that 90% of the problems reported by customers related to deposits. Account balances made up 7% of reported problems, while online access made up 3%.
Capital One said in a statement that the disruption, which impacted the process of some deposits, payments and transfers, began on Wednesday and is due to a technical problem with one of its service providers.
The company apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outage and said it was working closely with the supplier to resolve the matter. Capital One added that once systems are restored, it will process all deposits and other transactions that were delayed.
But many customers remain frustrated. Complaints keep coming in to the company’s @AskCapitalOne customer service account on X.
“Do you have an ETA yet? I don’t have my direct deposit,” wrote user X on Friday morning.
“You better set realistic expectations and be honest with your customers or you’re going to ruin your reputation and your business,” wrote another.
