The 19-year-old rising star is just £20,000 a week to United, which hardly reflects his status as a Three Lions midfielder and a crucial player for Ruben Amorim, but PSR’s rumored concerns are delaying a deal on a new contract for Maino.
As a result of this, it is reliably believed that Chelsea have approached Mainoo’s agents in a bid to lure him awayas reported by journalist and Stamford Bridge Insider Simon Phillips in its Substack.

“Chelsea also want to bring in a new midfielder this window following Enzo Maresca’s request.” Phillips wrote earlier this week.
“However, it does not need to be a new midfielder and there are still chances that either Lesley Ugochukwu or Andrey Santos could be recalled, SPTC sources heard again yesterday.
“There is a possibility that Santos will be recalled as well, which we did not expect to happen at all, until now, potentially.
“Chelsea have tried to turn Kobi Maino’s head to Manchester United by approaching his agents, and that is still potentially something that could happen this month if the player decides he wants to move.”
While this is far from over, it appears that Chelsea are seriously pursuing Mainoo, but he is not the only Red Devils sensation on their radar.
Chelsea target Alexander Garnazzo has been linked with a move away from the club
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, United’s exciting winger Alejandro Garnazzo has emerged as Maresca’s target.
The Argentine is attracting interest from Antonio Conte’s Napoli, who appear to have targeted him as a potential replacement for PSG-bound Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
However, Conte now faces competition from his former club. Chelsea are targeting Garnazzo and have “started” an operation about his potential signing, according to L’Équipe, who also provided an update on the futures of Christopher Nkunku and Axel Disasi.
THE £275,000 a week The duo are apparently set to depart west London before the February 3 deadline, with Maresca’s side facing a major overhaul in the final stages of this transfer window.
Back at Garnacho, the 20-year-old has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 31 appearances so far this season, putting in some excellent performances and fitting the mold of a young, exciting player that the BlueCo have repeatedly targeted since Chelsea’s takeover.
Garnacho is also extremely versatile, able to play anywhere in attack – including on the left side, right side, through the middle as a central attacking midfielder and even as a second striker. It won’t come cheap though, with some reports suggesting the South American could cost a fortune 70 million pounds.
