Cheltenham 2025: Mullins suffers from kawaboomga hit
Willie Mullins, who enjoyed a magnificent Cheltenham 2024 festival, has suffered a blow before this year’s meeting with the leading candidate Kawaboomga excluded from injury.
The five -year -old was among Turners’ favorite for the festival’s second day, but will remain in Ireland and lose the rest of the season.
It is a premature regression for Mullins, who was the most successful trainer 12 months ago with nine wins in Gloucestershire.
Kawaboomga is owned by JP McManus, whose racing manager Frank Berry said: “Unfortunately, Kawaboomga had failed and will lose the rest of the season.
“It’s a big, big horse and it’s disappointing. But we hope everyone will be well we will have him back for autumn.”
Mullins and McManus have other horses in the race, but they could still come out victorious.
The final requirement trained by Mullins is the favorite with McManus having its colors in the much fancy The New Lion.
