Collin Morikawa: Twice important champion invites PGA Tour to follow the LPGA Tour approach to break the slow game | Golf news

Two -time great Collin Morikawa champion believes that the PGA tour should follow the lead of the LPGA Tour to break the slow game.

According to new policies that will come into force in March, LPGA players who take one to five seconds longer than the permitted time to play their shot will receive a fine.

Players who last six to 15 seconds to play their shot will take a one -step penalty and those who take more than 16 seconds will have a higher penalty.

While Jacob Skov Olesen in Denmark received a shot during the first round of the 2024 BMW PGA championship in the DP World Tour, the last sentence on the PGA Tour was given in 2017.

“With the aspect of the fans, I realize that they are complaining about the slow game, but if you showed them more shots, I don’t think they will complain about the slow game, right?” Morikawa said in a press conference in front of Genesis
Invitational.

“But it’s an issue on the tour.

“Obviously you see what the LPGA is doing. You have to start the fine of people. Look. If I got the wrist and I got a good. I wouldn’t want to be fined.

“It’s just like the NBA, like technicians. Some guys are okay with getting a fine every week for TS. If kids are okay to get technically and get penalties here on a tour because it’s slow, so.

“Something has to happen and no one wants to be this guinea pig, this first guy to do it and get it, but it has started somewhere.”

“Whether it’s public or not. I think you are focusing on the wrong thing.
