Dani Olmo removed from La Liga website as Barcelona registration expires

La Liga dropped Dani Olmo from the squad on Barcelona’s team page after his registration expired on December 31.
Only initially listed as part of a temporary emergency measure stemming from Andreas Christensen’s injury, Olmo faces an incredibly uncertain future. Barcelona already have failed in two attempts to extend Olmo’s registration through the courts, but it had been done hoping to formalize a €120 million deal to sell a section of VIP seats inside Camp Nou in time to deal with Olmo’s registration.
However, as noted by Sports Worldwere unable to provide sufficient evidence of future payments to La Liga, which therefore did not approve the deal, leaving Barcelona trying to deal with Olmo’s situation.
“LALIGA informs that as of today, December 31, FC Barcelona has not presented an alternative solution that, in accordance with LALIGA’s financial control regulations, would allow it to register any player from January 2,” La Liga said in a statement.
The biggest complication for Barcelona is the La Liga ruling, which states that a player can only be registered once by one club per season and cannot be delisted and re-registered at a different time unless there is a valid reason, such as e.g. the injury that caused Christensen to retire temporarily earlier this season.
Barcelona’s next move was to appeal to the Spanish Football Federation, the RFEF.
“FC Barcelona informs that it has applied for a new license for the players Daniel Olmo and Pau Víctor to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF),” the club said.
Reports claim, however, that the RFEF cannot grant a new license without La Liga’s approval, which is unavailable.
If Barcelona do not secure an extension to Olmo’s registration, the midfielder will be free to terminate his contract immediately and join another club, with several Premier League teams perceive themselves to be intense.
If Olmo activates that option, it is believed he is still entitled to every penny promised to him from his current contract, which runs until 2030, while Barcelona will also be responsible for paying the full £48m transfer fee euro to RB Leipzig, which would then have to be paid immediately and in full, as there would no longer be a contract for which Barcelona could write off the fee. Reports claim that Barcelona’s full commitment to Olmos could reach a total of €130 million.
Olmo’s agent has he publicly emphasized his desire to remain at Barcelonawhile the colored Blaugrana hearts in his New Year’s Eve photos also appeared to confirm his commitment to Barca.
