But despite their widespread use, Amar Hanspal, former co-CEO and chief product officer of ODES Todesk, says that the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry is using 20th century equipment for the construction of 21st century buildings. Its latest startup, Power -A company that describes the “Design Platform of the Next Pay Generation for buildings”-is getting ready to change. Hanspal is already having problems with a long career in AEC technology space. He spent nearly 20 years ODES todesk, and then in 2018 he co-founded Bright Machines, a manufacturing auto tomaton company (which himself raised Signing fund). Motif’s first product will not be ready until the first part of this year, but Hanspal gave a rough picture of what it would be. He said that Motif was working to create a platform that would provide a set of cloud-native 3D computer-supported design tools that will have elements of machine learning and AI.
The startup now raises 46 million seeds and range is a combination of funds. Series A was led by Capital G, Alphabet’s Growth Fund, while Redpoint Ventures leads the seed round.
Capital G partner, Jill Chez, told Techcranch that she was researching Software Fatware for architects before meeting Motif. He saw that it was a huge market with old products.
She was surprised that existing equipment was still not disturbed and learned that putting 3D architecture models in the cloud is technically difficult.
In addition to engineering complexity, sales of these tools may be challenging, Chase said. “You should have a little element of trust and relationships with big architecture companies to allow you to go to the door.”
When he found Hanspal and Mathews, he immediately knew that his combined 40 -year experience in the AEC Software Fatware industry would help him make a company that could take off.
