Goals and highlights with Man United, Tottenham and Newcastle among the winners in the third round

Five Premier League sides were looking to avoid upsets as the 2024/25 FA Cup third round continued with seven matches on Sunday.

Fifth-tier Tamworth were hoping for a huge upset at home to Tottenham, while fourth-tier Bromley – promoted last season – visited Newcastle.

Ipswich Town were at home to Bristol Rovers and Stockport County visited Crystal Palace as two League One sides chased shocks, and Southampton were at home to Championship side Swansea City.

Arsenal – United: Penalties are crucial

Bruno Fernandes’ strike gave United the lead seven minutes after half-time, but the momentum appeared to be in Arsenal’s favor after Diogo Dalot received a second yellow card for the visitors two minutes before Gabriel fired home an equaliser.

Tamworth vs Tottenham: Spurs survive a scare

Tottenham fielded a strong team but had an uncomfortable afternoon at Tamworth’s 4,000-capacity Lamb Ground, taking the lead only through Nathan Tshikuna’s scrappy own goal in the 101st minute.

Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson also scored in extra time as Ange Postecoglou’s side secured a flattering 3-0 win.

Newcastle vs Bromley: Magpies made to work

Twelfth-placed in League Two, Bromley enjoyed a spectacular start in front of more than 52,000 fans when Cameron Congreve won a header and scored from the rebound in the eighth minute.

Newcastle equalized eight minutes later with a superb strike from Lewis Miley, and William Osula also produced a stunning finish in the 61st minute for his first goal for the club, sealing a 3-1 win after his half-time substitute’s penalty Anthony Gordon.
