The days of google attendant are numbered. Google announced on Friday that all Android devices are changed to Gemini as their default attendee and "The classic Google’s Assistant will be no longer accessible on the most mobile devices."
The company says that works for converting the most mobile devices from Google Assistant to Gemini in 2025, and plans "Adjust tablets, car and devices that connected to your phone, as headphones and clocks" to the new attendant AI. That presumably includes other platforms as ios, too. While intelligent home devices do not appear to be a focus on Google by the end, the company also reaffirmed the plans to use Gemini to power a new experience on speakers, shows, and run.
The only way to really avoid Google Assistant’s retirement is to have a device that does not meet the Gemini minimal system requirements: Run to at least Android 10 and have at least 2GB of RAM. If you have two, you say goodbye to your ancient assistant.
For those willing to look at, writing was in the wall for Google’s attendant for a while. Google launched his pixel 9 line with gemini as the default Instead of Google Assistant, a pretty bad sign considering pixels of a large goal of life. The company also deliberately trying to give gemini base capacity of attendant in time, presumably to make this transition.
It is not clear when the swallch happens, but you would feel any android parcel 16 to use Gemini rather than the model years.
