Aakash Chopra spoke about the rumors of Varun Chakravarthy vying for selection for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He highlighted how the spinner has been doing well in the domestic circuit, asking if he is picked who will replace him in the team? Speaking in a video he posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:
“Varun Chakaravarthy has been picking up wickets one after the other. He has done well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well. He took a five-wicket haul against Rajasthan and has been doing well. Ever since he came back to India’s T20I team, he has picked up wickets every time.”
“The rumor market is hot, the atmosphere in Indian cricket has become such that we are getting a lot of news based on sources and some of them are coming true, that Varun Chakravarthy could be selected for the Champions Trophy. If he is selected, who will come out – Ravindra Jadeja is what I heard.’

Aakash Chopra also spoke about reports of Ravindra Jadeja’s future in ODIs, saying that Chakravarthy may be added in his place with Axar Patel being the all-rounder. He added:
“I hope I hadn’t heard it, but it has come now that Ravindra Jadeja might not be selected and you might see Varun Chakaravarthy in his place in the XI. There is a big possibility. So you will see Axar in Jadu’s place.”
