Ihsanullah announces PSL exit, boycotts tournaments after backlash
Pakistan fast bowler Ihsanullah, who has been out of action for almost two years, has announced his boycott of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), vowing not to play in the franchise tournament again after failing to find a taker in the 2025 PSL Draft.
The much-awaited PSL Draft 2025 was held at Huzoori Bagh, Lahore Fort on Monday (January 13), where even Ihsanullah’s former franchise Multan Sultans overlooked the Pakistani pace.
Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the pacer’s current plight, but now they too have left him to his own devices.
Ali Tareen reveals why Multan Sultans overlooked Ihsanullah in PSL Draft 2025
Recently, Ali Tareen revealed that the 22-year-old pacer’s arm will never fully straighten, making it impossible for him to bowl like he used to because of the scars from the previous botched surgery. The Multan Sultans owner had claimed that Ihsanullah could never clock 150 KMPH.
After the players’ draft, Ali Tareen revealed that Ihsanullah was unable to perform at his best due to a long-term elbow problem, which is why Multan Sultans did not sign him. He noted that the pacer needs to prove his fitness and fast bowling in the domestic season before playing a full season in the PSL.
Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen said: “It is too early for Ihsanullah to play a whole tournament. Our doctors have confirmed that he won’t be able to bend his elbow like he did in the past. He needs to play a full domestic season and prove he can bowl fast again.”

Boycott PSL: Ihsanullah
Frustrated with the lack of support and comments from Ali Tareen, Ihsanullah announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after his disappointment in the PSL Draft 2025. Ihsanullah criticized the Multan Sultans owner and called him selfish.
The Pakistani bowler declared that he will never return to the PSL while accusing Tareen of abandoning him for someone else. He said the franchise never supported him, instead enjoyed his struggles and downfall and took full advantage of him to grab headlines in Pakistan.

The pacer told public news, “I am boycotting PSL. People are so selfish. I don’t want to play franchise cricket anymore in Pakistan. As long as I am alive I will not play in PSL. No one contacted me. People are so selfish. Now, he (Tareen) has found someone else and is chasing him. He only supported my downfall and enjoyed how my career was destroyed.”
