In a recent chat, Amir expressed his confidence in Pakistan’s recent form citing their back-to-back wins against Australia and South Africa as indicators of their growing power. He highlighted the team’s ability to perform in tough conditions abroad, which he believes gives them an edge over India.
“The way Pakistan have been playing recently – beating Australia in Australia and beating South Africa – shows their strength, especially in overseas conditions. Based on their recent performances, I think Pakistan will have the upper hand against India.” Amir said as reported by Cricket Pakistan.

Amir highlights the absence of Jasprit Bumrah a major concern for India
While acknowledging India’s history of success in major tournaments, Amir noted that the Indian team is under increasing pressure after recent setbacks. He highlighted concerns about his fitness jasprit bumrahIndia’s star paceman, who is currently recovering from a back injury and is expected to miss the opening phase of CT 2025. Amir suggested that Bumrah’s absence could significantly weaken India’s bowling attack.
“It will be a huge loss for India if Bumrah is not there. He has been a leading bowler for India, leading the team from the front. Without him, the Indian bowling attack is reduced to 40-50 per cent of its strength.” Amir added.

However, Pakistan had a strong showing in the Champions Trophy, winning two of the five encounters between the two teams. The last Champions Trophy encounter, the 2017 final, saw Pakistan beat India with a commanding 180-run victory, a match where Amir was instrumental in removing key Indian batsmen such as Rohit Sharma (0), Virat Kohli (5), and Shikhar Dhawan (21).
