Lamont Roach’s team reports the New York Athletic Committee to declare him a winner on Gervonta Davis, citing controversial Knockdown and possible exclusion

Lamont Roach’s lawyer sent a letter to the New York Athletic Committee, asking them to change the results from Lamont’s match against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last Saturday night to make him the new WBA Lightweight champion.

The race was scored by 12 round draw: 115-113 for a tank, 114-114 and 114-114.

According to Dan Rafael, Roach’s lawyer wants the New York committee to “declare” the winner over the tank from a ninth round TKO, blocked or by decision. Davis took a knee to the ninth round after being hit.

He then got up and went to his corner to throw his face from his trainer. He claimed he had hair grease in his eyes. The referee Steve Willis does not count it as a knockdown, score as a knockout or we excluded him. It could do one of the three because Tank had walked its corner without a time limit.

I just knew that this was coming from the Roach side because the call without a knockdown in the ninth round against his tank cost not only the race but probably millions he would get as a new WBA champion. He would hold the WBA title, who would play for his benefit in negotiations for a rematch with a tank or a fight against one of the other belt holders, such as the WBC Shakur Stevenson champion.

“Lamont Roach’s lawyer Greg Smith sent a letter to the New York Athletic Committee, asking the controversial majority of the Roach Committee with WBA Lightweight Titlist Gervonta Davis,” Dan Rafael told his Fight Freaks Unite.

(The letter) asks the Commission to overthrow the outcome of the race and declare Roach, who is the reigning WBA inferior light title, as “the true winner of the race – or through the TKO, because of Mr Davis who is removed from the race or to be ruled out to be excluded from the struggle or to be excluded.

If the referee had given Roach credit for the ninth round Knockdown, he would have won from scores 115-112, 114-113 and 114-113
