Leicester vs Fulham: Preview, predictions and lineup

Leicester City aim to end their six-game losing streak in the Premier League on Saturday when they host Fulham at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes suffered another miserable defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace on Wednesday afternoon, their disrespect punished by their clinical opponents. The pressure is already mounting on new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has overseen a solitary Premier League win after a haphazard 3-1 win over West Ham United on his debut.

Fulham could well push Leicester into further crisis on Saturday, although they tasted their first defeat since late November when they travel to West Ham on Tuesday. Alex Iwobi’s brace failed to earn the Cottagers a point as they stumbled to a 3-2 defeat during Graham Potter’s first league game in charge of the Irons.

Leicester had an unfamiliar squad at the start of the season and injuries only compounded their problems. Abdul Fatawu’s ACL tear at the end of the season has left them struggling for creativity, while the absence of the stalwart Mads Hermansen between the sticks has proved costly.

The goalkeeper remains missing for Saturday and Jakub Stolarczyk will continue in net. Wilfred Ndidi is unavailable in midfield and Ricardo Pereira is absent at right-back, both players who could add genuine quality to Leicester’s squad.

Leicester predicted line-up against Fulham (4-2-3-1): Stolarczyk; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Soumare, Winks; Buonanotte, El Khannous, Mavididi; Vardy.

Fulham could welcome Sander Berge back into their squad for Saturday’s trip to the East Midlands, with the midfielder sidelined since before Christmas with an ankle injury. He could appear in some capacity in King Power.

However, Reiss Nelson will not be part of the traveling party. He remains out of action with a hamstring injury and is joined by Kenny Tete in the treatment room, with the latter unlikely to return until the end of March at the earliest. That means Timothy Castagne will line up at right-back against his former club.

Fulham predicted line-up against Leicester (4-2-3-1): Leno? Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson? Lukic, Pereira? Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez.

Leicester certainly created chances against Palace in midweek but lacked the grit to take them. Despite boasting an xG of 1.7, they scored a gap and their struggles in the final third have been a constant issue this season.

The Foxes are also suspect defensively, having conceded two or more in 11 of their last 12 games. Fulham aren’t the most prolific goalscorers in the division but will fancy their chances of getting over Leicester’s line on more than one occasion.

Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Fulham
