Magpies edge blues in FA Cup thriller
Newcastle threw beyond Birmingham in a race at St.andrews, securing a 3-2 victory to move on to the fa cup.
The hosts took the lead within a minute via Ethan Laird, before Joe Willock and Callum Wilson brought the tie back to Magpies’ favor.
Tomoki Iwata then pulled out the level of Birmingham just before the half, but a second second Willock meant it would be the Premier League side to move on.
Eddie Howe made nine changes to the side that hit Arsenal in the second leg of the EFL Cup semifinals on Wednesday night and analogue visitors failed their first test at the start.
A corner of Birmingham shook back in the center and Laird was on alert to shoot home via a diversion from Wilson.
Saint Andreas bounced and the home side almost made it 2-0 after 14 minutes from another set.
Marc Leonard’s free kick was helped by Alex Cochrane for Keshi Anderson and the beautifully timed volleyball from the edge of the area brought a brilliant with one hand except Newcastle Nick Pope goalkeeper.
Since it looked disconnected and without teeth during the first half of the start period, Newcastle carries a controversial equilibrium from the first attack on the note.

Wilson crossed from the left and, after William Osula pulled it back to the distant position, Willock stabbed the goalkeeper with Bailey Peacock-Farrell making a savings behind the line.
The assistant referee was quick to interrupt the ball he had passed, though the repetitions were unclear. The target of deflated Birmingham and the newcastle capitalized with its progress almost immediately.
Again there was an element of chaos for it, as Wilson’s initial attempt by Tino Livramento’s cross was blocked in line by his own man in Osula before the former England striker broke the recovery.
The home side was running and the same assistant referee who had angered them earlier came at their disposal, rightly excluding a Willock target for offside.birmingham had just dare to half of the Newcastle for 20 minutes, but should have been leveled.
Anderson escaped from the left and hit a perfect cross for Jay Stansfield, but the striker £ 15m put his header a bit of six yards when he was not completely climbed.
Scott Wright should have done better than throwing his effort to the Pope after a good job from Iwata, forcing Japanese Midfielder to get things in his hands minutes later.

Newcastle could only partially clean a cross from Birmingham’s left and Iwata broke on the loose ball to shoot a stunning shot on the roof of 25 meters.
The second period began with the Newcastle claiming control, the dominance of the occupation and the preservation of their hosts, was nailed back. However, a series of holidays interrupted the flow, including a long delay for Birmingham’s Leonard, who suffered a serious foot injury after a challenge with Lewis Miley.
As the game continued, both teams struggled to scratch clear chances in an increasingly scrappy affair. The race became more natural, with a turmoil of the yellow cards issued on both sides as tensions increased.
Despite Birmingham’s efforts to promote, Newcastle found the discovery in the 82nd minute. Will, who had begun the traffic, continued his course and capitalized a lucky diversion to hit the ball under Peacock-Farrell, restoring the lead of visitors.
Birmingham struggled hard to respond, starting big balls forward and pressing high in the last moments. A dramatic clearance from the line by Dowell denied the Murphy decisive goal, while Nick Pope produced a critical storage to maintain the advantage of Newcastle as a stopping time of over 12 minutes.
Despite their spiritual struggle, Birmingham finally fell soon, and the quality of the Newcastle Premier League shone on a cobblestone, hard second half that saw them move on to the next round.
