MS Dhoni’s candid view on social media and PR

Mahendra Singh Dhoniname synonymous with Indian cricketof the golden age, he always believed in letting his performance speak louder than any PR campaign. Despite the buzz around social media in modern sports, the former India skipper has remained steadfastly out of the limelight on Instagram and X. While his peers have embraced these platforms to connect with fans, Dhoni has maintained a deliberate silence.

Speaking of Eurogrip Tread Talksdhoni spoke about this option. “I was never a big fan of social media. Throughout, I had so many managers, and they all kept pushing. I started playing in 2004. Twitter became popular later, and then Instagram came in. All the managers told me , “You should do some PR, build this and build that.” I had the same answer – if you play good cricket, no you need PR.”

A career built on simplicity and focus

Dhoni’s outlook aligns with his career philosophy – simplicity and focus. From the streets of Ranchi to captaining India, his journey has always revolved around hard work and results. Social media, for Dhoni, was just noise. While others sought validation online, Dhoni’s bat and gloves did all the talking on the field.

This approach resonates with fans. His refusal to chase online fame brings out a refreshing authenticity in a world dominated by trends and hashtags.

A captain like no other

As a captain, Dhoni set records that cemented his legacy. Under his leadership, India achieved monumental milestones:

  • 27 Test wins: Out of 60 matches, with a winning percentage of 45.00.
  • Three ICC trophies: 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.
  • 200 ODIs as Captain: Guaranteed 110 wins and a constant 55% win rate.
  • 41 T20I wins: In 74 games, with a winning percentage of 58.33.

From taking India to the top of the ICC Test rankings to winning the most coveted trophies, Dhoni’s achievements need no reinforcement on social media. His on-field triumphs are his loudest statements.

At 43, Dhoni continues to defy age and expectations. Fans are eagerly awaiting his return to 2025 IPLwhere he will wear the iconic yellow Chennai Super Kings one more time. Retained for INR 4 crore, Dhoni remains an integral part of CSK’s legacy, along with stalwarts like Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
