Newcastle is considering call for final suspension of Carabao Cup

Newcastle United is weighing an appeal by Anthony Gordon’s red card by Sunday’s defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion, which, as it is, sees him suspended for the Carabao Cup final.

Gordon received his orders in the process of 83 minutes in the final defeat after the push of Brighton’s Jean Paul Van Hecke on his face, with a straight red card for violent behavior leading to a ban on three games.

If the suspension is imposed, Gordon will lose the Premier League games against West Ham United and Brentford, on both sides of the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on March 16th.

“If we analyze the incident and feel that there are reasons for (a call), we will do without hesitation,” said Director Eddie Howe after the game.

Newcastle He could hope to see Gordon’s red card canceled or the punishment will be reduced. A ban on a game will let him go free Liverpool In Wembley Stadium, but they would have to convince the football association that referee Anthony Taylor was wrong with his assessment of the incident.

Howe insisted that he had not seen a complete repetition of the incident when he was asked after the game, but defended Gordon, who was born in Liverpool against the fans.

“I should see it. I can’t sit here and give a honest opinion to it until I have done the work you have done and looked at it,” he started. “But, knowing the player, I know there is no malice there.

“He plays hard – I want to play hard, I want to be competitive, but I don’t see a topic there right now, I think he would be very out of the context with how it is in general, maybe a little frustrating in the game that things didn’t go on our way, but I would say it’s not a common sight when Anthony is playing.”
