The OnePlus Open has stood the test of time and managed to stand out among the foldables of 2024 despite being launched in 2023, but as we get closer to its sequel, we’re all eager to see what’s in store. This week, a new leak claims to reveal the design of the OnePlus Open 2, as well as providing more information about its specifications and release date.
So far we’ve heard little about the OnePlus Open 2, which is said to include a foldable better water resistance, new cameras, wireless charging and a ridiculously large battery.
A new leak has been published SmartPrix reveals more information, starting with a potential first look at the new foldable design. There is a leak expressed doubt due to track records in the data, but everything here is consistent with what we have heard in the past.
The renders below are said to be based on a “late-stage prototype” and show a design that is essentially an upgrade over the existing model, with a smaller camera module and subtle curves on the back. The internal display appears to be unchanged and the report claims that the device is bigger but thinner than the first generation (in line with past leaks) less than 10 mm.
The internal display is an 8-inch panel with a 6.4-inch hinged display, which is likely to match Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Specs include the Snapdragon 8 Elite and up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The rear cameras consist of a 50-megapixel triple sensor, 32-megapixel and 20-megapixel selfie cameras. The battery is said to be 5900 mAh with 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
For a while now, the OnePlus Open 2 (and the Oppo Find X5 based on it) has been rumored to arrive as soon as 2025. A suspected leak raised doubts for some, but this latest leak (and this leak and other leaks) all confirm that the new foldable device will go on sale in Q1 2025. That means waiting until around March – perhaps at MWC the new OnePlus Watch?
