PAULO FONSECA: Lyon boss is suspended for nine months after the furious referee disorder | Football news

The boss of Lyon Paulo Fonsca has been suspended for nine months by the French Professional Football Association (FLP) after his violent confrontation with a referee.

Fasonca saw he scream and scream in front of the official Benoit Millot, as the referee sent the director during Lyon’s Ligue 1 victory in Brest on Sunday.

FLP said in a statement on Wednesday that Fonsca will be banned from the touch line until November 30, and is not allowed to be in the dressing room with Lyon players before and after an official game until September 15.

The controversy left the official scared. In an interview with The groupMillot said: “He jumped me with a bullying attitude and I decided to send him immediately.

“He had an even more intense stance, trying to offer a hit, in fact, a headbutt. I didn’t even have time to announce the final decision, which proved to be a penalty.

Punishment does not affect European competitions with Lyon due to Face Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League on the last 16 on Thursday night, but the ban could be extended to continental competitions, France’s football authorities to refer the case to UEFA and FIFA.

Fonsca was director of Lyon since January 31, after being fired by AC Milan a month earlier. He gave him the ban on the same day as his 52nd birthday.

Explaining the nine -month prohibition, Sebastien Deneux, chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, said: “Mr Fasonca is a coach of Ligue 1, he is above all educational, it is self -evident that this attitude is strictly incompatible with these functions.

“The Commission found that Mr Fonsca’s attitude, throwing himself to the referee, shouting at him, at the point where they were on the head on his head, is a characteristic of the attitude of bullying and threatening behavior.”

Fasonca apologized for his behavior at the press conference after the game against Brest. Lyon should continue their time – in which they sit in Ligue 1 – without their manager.

It is the last long prohibition delivered in a basic figure in France. Last week, Marseille President Pablo Longoria was banned from 15 matches after accusing French referees of corruption after a 3-0 defeat to Auxerre.

In Ligue 2, director Bastia Benoit Tavenot received a ban on 12 games – four of which were resurrected – for the arrest of Pau Player Jordy Gaspar from the stadium and acquiring a red card.
