Pixel Phone app tests make Audio Emojis more prominent

Introduced with the Pixel 8a in MayAudio Emoji continues to see updates, such as seasonal animationsGoogle is now testing a more prominent access point in the Phone app.

Currently, Audio Emoji is available from one of two locations. First, as a suggestion chip along with “Video call” (if available), you can tap “More” for a network of call operations like Call Logs on the Pixel 9 series.

The Google-made phone is now testing a rather large “Audio Emoji” button on top of the Keyboard, Mute, Loudspeaker and more. This pill covers almost the entire width of the call screen and brings the existing character sheet design to the fore.

Note that you can disable Audio Emoji completely in Pixel Phone Settings.

Last week we got a report on the latest Phone by Google beta (version 157) and now there are more sightings (via Android Authority) of this in the test. You can also see the new one in the screenshot above video call button in the upper right corner. However, these two changes do not appear to be widespread.
