Rangers defeated Fenerbahce in penalties to proceed
Rangers lost their first leg pencil two goals, but won a fascinating penalty to hit Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in an IBrox bounce.
Although he lost 3-1 to Turkey and escaped two other long goals through marginal offshore decisions, Mourinho claimed to stay the game that his side was a better team than the Rangers.
And they won 2-0 at night. The wonderful first finish of Sebastian Szymański from Filip Kostić’s delivery had reduced overall delays shortly before halftime and the wing turned a low cross Mert Müldür in the second half to force an extra 30 minutes.
A famous night for the Rangers in Ibrox 💙

Jack Butland made two good savings in the additional period, as the Turkish side seemed to end strongly.
But Butland saved well in shootout from Fred and Dusan Tadic, before Mert Hakan Yandas shot his effort over the top to send Barry Ferguson’s men.
The Rangers will now play Athletic Bilbao in the quarter -finals.
A triumphant Butland said Tnt Sports: “We’re something special. I wanted to put something for the kids, I wanted to complete it. You can’t get over that feeling.
“We fully believed that we were going to do the job. The boys dug deep and that is the reward you get, it’s what the fans deserve.
“We could be more clinical. But, boy, they deserved this.”
