Redmi 14C 5G comes with bigger 6.88-inch display, more efficient Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip

The Redmi 14C 5G is a ₹10K phone that claims to have the segment’s most efficient 4nm chipset and largest 120Hz display. As the successor to the H1 2024’s top 5G phone in India, it also has big shoes to fill (shipments, data provided by Canalys).
Let’s start from the top. The Redmi 14C 5G will go on sale on January 10 (this Friday) at a base price of ₹ 10,000 – this is for the 4/64GB model. Upgrade options are available, 4/128GB for ₹11,000 and 6/128GB for ₹12,000.
The phone has power Snapdragon 4 Gen 2The first 4nm chip in the 4-series. It has two Cortex-A78 cores (2.2 GHz) and six A55 (1.95 GHz), an Adreno 613 GPU and an X61 modem with dual 5G support and a download speed of up to 2.5 Gbit / s. It is paired with 4/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64/128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The latter can be expanded with microSD cards up to 1TB with a dedicated slot (so you can still use two SIM cards).
The front-facing IPS LCD has gotten bigger and faster—it’s now a 6.88″ panel with a 120Hz refresh rate (up from 6.74″ at 90Hz)—but it still only has HD+ resolution.
The camera system hasn’t seen much of an upgrade, still featuring a 50MP primary and secondary on the back. The selfie camera gets a new 8MP sensor (up from 5MP), but video recording is limited to 1080p @ 30fps for both.

The 14C retains the 3.5mm headphone jack and its single speaker is 50% louder than the previous model’s speaker.
The phone is available in three colors: Starry Blue and Stardust Purple weighing 205g, Stargaze Black 212g. Note that the Black and Purple phones have a “glass back design,” though that doesn’t fully explain the weight difference.

Anyway, the 205g weight is more than the 2024 phone, but the new one comes with a slightly bigger 5,160mAh battery (up from 160mAh). The battery is rated for 1000 cycles. Charging is still limited to 18W, but you get a 33W charger in the box that you can use with your other USB-C compatible gadgets (this soon be all). The case has an IP52 rating for basic splash resistance.
You can find it on the Redmi 14C 5G Xiaomi India site and you can sign up for a reminder when it launches on Friday. The phone comes with HyperOS based on Android 14 out of the box and will get 2 years of software support and 4 years of security patches.
