Samsung Messages is not pre-installed on Galaxy S25 phones

Samsung and Google’s partnership pushed Bixby to the side and gave us Galaxy AI. Today we learned that another service from the Korean company is slowly being phased out – Samsung Messages is not pre-installed on Galaxy S25 devices.
The company later clarified that it is leaving the SMS platform behind and will gradually migrate all users to Google Messages. Here is the full message:
Due to the close cooperation between Google and Samsung, we have decided to move all services to Google Messages and we are sunsetting Samsung Messages. It is no longer available on the PlayStore; however, those who choose to use Samsung Messages can still do so. We believe the added functionality of RCS messaging in Google Messages creates an improved user experience for both Android-to-Android messaging and cross-platform.
Samsung Messages still works on phones with the app installed, including all non-S25 Galaxy devices. However, it is no longer available for download from the Google Play Store. Users can easily switch to Google Messages (or any other app) in the Apps menu in Settings under the Default Apps menu.

Google Messages came pre-installed on the Galaxy S21 series and was the default SMS app since last Augusttime Z layer 6 and From Flip6 folding devices are activated.
We feel happy that the duplicate application is gone. Some users may be unhappy with this change, but luckily, many other SMS apps are still available in the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store.
