Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht pardoned by Donald Trump

President Trump has fulfilled one of his key campaign promises — at least for those in the crypto community — by pardoning Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.
“I just called Ross William Ulbricht’s mother and she told me that she was happy that she had just signed a full and unconditional pardon for her son Ross in honor of her and the Libertarian Movement that has supported me so strongly.” Trump wrote about this on the Truth Social page.
The move would ensure the imminent release of Ulbricht, who was convicted in 2015 of an ongoing criminal enterprise and drug distribution and related offenses. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
It became Ulbricht’s work because famous to many in the crypto-community, he was not himself selling drugs or other illegal goods, but rather operating a platform where others were allowed to transact.
Then candidate Trump He promised to reduce Ulbricht’s sentence “on the first day”. Speaking at the Libertarian Party convention last May
Bitcoin (BTC) prices rallied in the minutes following the news, possibly signaling that the pardon and a flurry of orders in recent hours signaled the president’s intent to follow through on campaign promises.
Another of these promises was, of course, a much friendlier crypto regulatory stance, including the possibility of creating a strategic bitcoin reserve.
