‘Swiggy…this is unacceptable’: Mahua Moitra calls out Swiggy for faulty ice cream delivery, demands Rs 1220 refund

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra took to social media last night to express her frustration with food delivery service Swiggy after receiving spoiled ice creams she had ordered. In a tweet sent around 10:15 PM on January 16, the 50-year-old politician criticized the service for providing “expensive” Minus Thirty mini ice cream sticks that were inedible.

“Sorry, Swiggy – you have to play your game. Unacceptable that I ordered expensive Minus Thirty mini sticks ice cream & it arrives spoiled and inedible. Expecting a refund or replacement soon,” tweeted Moitra.

The TMC chief revealed that he had ordered a total of 10 ice creams for ₹1,220. Swiggy’s customer service team responded promptly, asking for their order number to resolve the issue.

Moitra’s complaint quickly sparked amusement on social media, with many users referencing his previous controversies, including a high-profile incident involving an expensive purse. The MP herself joined in the mood, exclaiming that her ice creams were “Hermès flavored with a Bobbi Brown topping”.

Some even trolled her for posting this question on X. On user wrote: “This looks like a publicity stunt to me. Since she was caught last time. To sell her parliamentary credentials. Now earn money doing advertising. Expensive hobbies.”

However, he also took a moment to address the trolling he faced on the X platform, stating: “Just because I’m an MP doesn’t mean I’m not a normal person who orders food online. Please get over this mentality that public representatives are not normal beings”.

The incident sparked a wider discussion about customer experiences with delivery platforms. Many users have come forward with their negative experiences regarding refunds from e-commerce and food delivery services.

One user shared, “It happened to me twice with Minus Trenta orders. It’s frustrating, but I understand the challenges with frozen shipments,” while another advised ordering items that can thaw quickly.
