Another year has passed, which means it’s been another year of having our wallets drained by the amount of awesome toys and collectibles that came out in 2024. Here are a few selections, from action figures to model kits to a lot, a lot large spaceshipswhich took pride of place in our collections this year.
Hot games The Dark Knight Joker (Batsuit Disguise)
The combination of Hot Toys and Heath Ledger’s Joker seems perfect. An instantly recognizable legendary character, matched with the details and care of a leading collection company. But in 2024, it went a step further with the release of Batsuit Disguise, which was a limited edition reimagining of the character that was not from a movie. It was just inspired by the fandom. Almost a DC Studios What if…?Joker stuns in a purple and green Batsuit with all the devious weapons to match. It is thrilling to watch and allows us to imagine what could have been if Ledger had not tragically passed away.
Lego The Lord of the Rings Barad-Dur
It might not shine as bright as Lego’s grand return to Middle-earth with the Rivendell set, but Lego’s journey to Mordor still is. a worthy following. Sure, the goal of a 32-inch-tall spiky dark tower is grand, but the Lego Barad-Dur excels in ways a little closer to hobbit size. Packed with a ton of cool minifigures and some wonderful details to break up all that evil black texture, it’s a worthy addition to any The Lord of the Rings collection… with the space for it, at least.
SH Figuarts Across the Spider-Verse Spider-Punk
Bandai has put out a lot of Spider-Men over the years, and the Spider-Verse the movies gave the opportunity to make Spiders ever spindlier. So it says a lot that the cream of the crop (so far at least) is not Peter or Miles, but Hobie Brown. Based on its design in Acrossthe Figuarts Spider-Punk combines great articulation and killer accessories with a truly stunning paint job. It perfectly captures Hobie’s frame from the movie, and it’s clear that Bandai had a lot of fun going to town with Hobie’s messy, but intricate jacket and outfit.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Kyber crystal set
By the time Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opened at Disneyland, one of the coolest designs for collectors were the kyber crystals. These small collections offer equal parts beauty and mystery. And when a second series dropped recently, Disney decided to commemorate the original magic with a limited-edition set of every kyber crystal from the beginning, including the ultra-rare black crystal, the only time it’s ever been sold by yourself The case also comes with Jedi and Sith holocrons, which allow you to unlock the crystals, and a nice display case. Sure, it’s super bulky, but it makes you feel like a Jedi (or Sith) relic hunter, proudly displaying your wares for all to see.
Lego Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1
It’s been a long time – people have been beggars Lego to work with Nintendo on a Legend of Zelda collaboration—but was it worth the wait? Absolutely. Lego has reached where everyone expected it to be with this wonderful tribute to the two Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of timeusing their common connections on the twisty-turny timeline of the franchise to anchor a set that celebrates two of the most beloved entries in the series through one location. It’s a little as well a lot of pain to easily swap between versions of the Great Deku Tree, but there’s still a ton of great detail and construction techniques regardless – and, of course, some amazing minifigures.
Hasbro Marvel Legends X-Men ’97
The Marvel Legends series has gone from strength to strength this year, but mutants have done well with the excellent X-Men ’97 underline. All of these figures have done so well, translating the animated aesthetic into action figure form, that it’s almost impossible to pick just one as the best of the bunch – really, we’re dying to see more X-Men rendered in this style. . But if not had to pick just one, Hasbro’s first Madelyne Pryor figure is a highlight.
Alien: Romulus Facehugger mask
Alien: Romulus it was the first Alien movie that came preloaded with merchandising, so we had all kinds of cool action figures and books and whatnot. But our favorite was a piece that Disney was so high, that gave one to each person in the Alien panel in Hall H at Comic-Con this year: a facehugger mask. Which is perfect, right? Facehuggers literally jump on someone’s face and hug them, like a mask, so making one into a mask is both an accurate representation of the movie, and a fun article of clothing. Whoever came up with the idea deserves a raise.
Hasbro Haslab Star Wars The Vintage Collection Ghost
A very recent entry on this list, but Hasbro’s biggest Star Wars The Haslab vehicle is also a wonderful tribute to one of the best parts of the franchise rebels. It’s not perfect, both from the compromises it’s forced to make because of the scale (while still getting bigger and wider than your entire torso) and the baffling decision to include everyone. but Sabine and Chopper in the sector’s massive $500 crowdfunding investment asking price. But it’s an absolute joy to play, and packed with tons of detail in and out to make it worth hours of fiddling.
Herds 30 minutes of fantasy Liber Knight/Holy Knight
Bandai started the fantastic spinoff to its popular 30 minute mission mecha line this year with a mix of clean, sci-fi-influenced robot design and classic fantasy archetypes in the Knight. Released for both factions in 30 minutes of fantasyThe stories of the Knight, the Knight and its optional upgrade to a Holy Knight are beautifully designed model kits, bringing 30 minutes” usual ideology of clear and modular design to a great hybrid trad-fan-meets-sci-fi aesthetic. We can’t wait to continue enhancing our plastic party with even more classes!
Hasbro Transformers One Ultimate Energon Optimus Prime
The release of a soul Transformers This year’s movie, of course, came with a lot of cool toys and merchandise. Transformers of all shapes, sizes, and even eras. And while we admit we haven’t played with them all, the one we still want is the Ultimate Energon Optimus Prime. At about 10 centimeters, it is a perfect size that you can play with it or see – a good balance for adult collectors and their children. It has great details. It transforms (of course). It makes you feel like you are watching the amazing movie again.
Hasbro Star Wars Mae Black Series
It’s been a big year for the Black Series line, but its secret strength came from an unlikely source: one of the figures released for The acolyteand not even one of the myriad Jedi. Instead, Mae slipped out of the shadows and into our hearts with a really great toy. It goes beyond the usual Black Series punching weight for accessories, and it feels like Hasbro has finally nailed cloth elements with its hooded cloak more fittingly than most Jedi suits. There are just a ton of tiny details that come together to create an awesome action figure
Mezco One: 12 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
There are so that so many TMNT The figure fits here, and it looks like we got enough this year to clog the boys’ sewer house and then some thanks to the franchise’s 40th anniversary. But in a sea of half-shells, a triumphant set easily in Mezco’s One: 12 take the turtle brothers. A fantastically detailed art style inspired by classic comics and beloved retro games in equal measure, great articulation, and a ton of cool accessories for each member of the team, this set was the best celebration of the TMNT in a year full of similar attempts. at the party
Lego Star Wars Luke’s Lightsaber
There was a lot of cool Lego Star Wars this year – and every year, frankly – but we can’t stop thinking about the free gift. Fans who ordered Jabba’s Sail Barge got a set of Lego lightsabers which just made us wonder why the hell Lego doesn’t make these ALL THE TIME? 1:1 props from Star Wars? In Lego? They are so freaking cool. It’s such a good and simple idea that we can’t believe it hasn’t happened before. Also, the set was made to perfection, it even comes with its own kyber crystal.
