The crossover of Godzilla with Marvel again to fight them all

You know, it wasn’t that long ago that Marvel had it covers variants comparing Godzilla going up against the likes of Avengers and Spider-Man. Toho’s big lizard Duke out with somebody these days, it doesn’t matter how big they are. So you won’t be surprised that the covers were a prelude to him actually coming to ruin the days of Marvel’s A-list superheroes.
Thursday, the Hollywood Reporter revealed godzilla vs marvel, the publisher’s first crossover with the character since 1977 Godzilla, king of the monsters. This new event is a one-shot series in which the king will face off against (or team up with) various Marvel heroes through the decades. First is the story of Ryan North and John Romita Jr. of a meeting with the Fantastic Four, who fight King Ghidorah after he becomes the new Herald of Galactus. As the Four face the new cosmic dragon, Godzilla and the Silver Surfer must team up to save the planet.
According to Marvel EiC CB Cebulski, the company initially talked with Toho about reprinting those old comics, but the talks ended clear “our two teams were excited to do more together. These crossovers started to come together, in direct collaboration with Toho, and we felt the perfect time for them was for Godzilla’s 70th anniversary. As Marvel comics/franchise president Dan Buckley said, Godzilla has become very popular lastly thanks to Godzilla Minus One and the American-made MonsterVerse movies, so Marvel couldn’t get into it — and should it be a hit, Cebulski said Marvel would be more than happy to team up with Toho on more “exciting projects.”

“Kaiju — and especially Godzilla — are important parts of Marvel’s comic history, so we knew we wanted to explore something with their teams,” Buckley said. “It’s part of our current cultural zeitgeist and a perfect example of the fun that the comics industry can bring. We’re focused on storytelling first and foremost, but the fun opportunities for crossovers like this give to our two fans a fun escape that they don’t want to miss.
Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four kick things off in March 2025. Future issues and their creators will be revealed at a later date.
