The most anticipated games of 2025

The eighth main entry in the popular shooter franchise, Doom: The Dark Ages is developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks. The first-person shooter will act as a prequel to 2016’s Doom title, following the franchise’s protagonist who battles Hell.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was originally announced at E3 2017 – yes, a long time ago – and was originally developed by Bandai Namco Studios. However, it was transferred in 2019 to Retro Studios, the team behind the original Prime trilogy.
It looks mostly similar at this point, but given the quality of previous entries and how long it’s been since 2007’s Prime 3, fans might be happy with it. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has been announced for the Switch, but we’re assuming it’ll be released as well the upcoming Switch 2 and also.
Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet

Naughty Dog’s first all-new IP since The Last of Us, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet takes the third-person action genre into space.
In the trailer, we see Jordan A., a bounty hunter on a mission to Sempiria, a planet that has not been contacted for over 600 years. Meet Moon. He is looking for a member of the Five Aces crime syndicate, who appears to have a history with Moon. Once on the ground, our hero shows off a futuristic melee weapon and starts killing robots. The trailer gives off a cool retro-futuristic vibe and Naughty Dog rarely misses. It’s something to be excited about.
Ghost of Yotei
Release date: 2025
Platform: PlayStation 5
After the success of Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch Productions’ return isn’t exactly a sequel, but it’s definitely (somehow) related, but how exactly is unclear. Set 300 years after Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei is expected to have the same stealth combat gameplay cycle set in more beautiful landscapes.
Fable
Release date: 2025
Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, PC

Oh yes, Nintendo Switch 2 it’s hardware, not software – but beyond Grand Theft Auto 6, is there anything more widely anticipated in gaming than Nintendo’s next device?
The original Switch was the undisputed hit after the Wii U, and Nintendo has continued its momentum for eight years. Leaks and reports point to a successor that doesn’t ditch the winning hybrid formula, but makes some major upgrades in terms of power and endurance. We’re ready, Nintendo.
