The practical magic sequence may have evoked a director

Last summer, reports began to swirl that Warner Bros follow up going for their cult classic Practical magic. Now, things seem a little more real, as a director can be found for the film.
In order due datefilmmaker Suzanne Bier is currently in talks to direct the Practical magic follow up. Bier previously worked with returning actors Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock The perfect couple and Bird box, respectively. Behind the camera, the co-writer of the first film, Akiva Goldsman, returns to write the sequel, and top stars are set to produce alongside returning producer Denis Di Novi. Beyond that, WB has remained tight-lipped about details such as the film’s plot, other returning stars, or even if it officially exists.
The original Practical magic released in 1998 and starring Kidman and Bullock as Gillian and Sally Owens, sisters descended from a long line of witches raised by their aunts in a small town. Years after the separation, the sisters reunite and use their powers to defeat the spirit of Gillian’s abusive boyfriend. It wasn’t a box office smash at the time, but in the years since its release, it has developed a passionate audience. The idea of a follow-up appeared for the first time in 2019 through a potential HBO Max series. It seems more likely now, since Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a hit for WB last year, and Kidman’s star power has grown as she’s taken on more varied projects over the years.
If you are a fan of her or Bullock, it probably won’t hurt to see their works with Bier … after you look at the original practical magic, of course.
