The the rumors were true – Samsung’s flagship smartphone line finally supports seamless updates with its release Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Korean company has been stable for many years and finally performed its function in the year Galaxy A55 last year.
We’re guessing this was meant to test the waters, and it seems all is well with the A55, so now the feature has finally made its way to the S line. “Flawless updates” means that your device will be unavailable for less time while it’s being updated.
This is because the update is applied while the device is active and it is installed on a different partition than the one the OS is currently using. After the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart the device, at which point it will load the updated firmware. This means that the reboot process itself is faster, as it is slightly longer than a regular reboot.
Whereas without seamless updates before, you’ll have to wait for the software to install before you can use your phone while doing so. So it won’t be front and center on any store display, but it’s one of those little welcome quality-of-life improvements nonetheless. The only strange thing about it is that it took Samsung more than eight years (Google introduced seamless updates to Android in 2016).
