Tyson Fury announces retirement from boxing…again!

Tyson Fury announced his retirement from boxing… for about the 47th time. This time, he is retiring after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk. Yes, the same Fury who once said he would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime has decided to call it quits. Again. Perhaps.

The 36-year-old heavyweight had outpointed Usyk in their rematch in December, but no one expected him to throw in the towel just yet. After all, he has retired before. And retired. Then he retired again. Predicting Fury’s next move is like guessing the weather in Manchester — good luck.

Joshua vs. Fury? Not happening (obviously)

Just last week, Anthony Joshua stirred the pot by saying a fight with Fury “had to happen” this year. Saudi boxing magnate Turki Alalshikh has even hinted that he will make the all-British blockbuster a reality. Wembley Stadium was reportedly packed, the fans were buzzing, and boxing Twitter was in complete meltdown mode.

But no. Fury took to social media with one of his signature cryptic messages:

“Hey everyone, I’ll make this short and sweet. I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It was a blast, I loved every minute of it. I’ll end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, see you on the other side.”

Dick Turpin? A mask? Is it a farewell speech or an audition for a historical drama?

The pension that never sticks

Let’s be honest, Fury’s retirements carry as much weight as a featherweight boxer. Remember 2022? After beating Dillian Whyte, he called it quits, only to return later that year to fight Derek Chisora. He even made a dramatic speech then:

“Every good dog has his day. As the great Roman leader said, there will always be someone else to fight. When is enough, enough?’

Apparently, “enough” lasts until the next big payday. So, is this the end of Tyson Fury’s career? Perhaps. But if history teaches us anything, we’ll see him back in the ring — likely with a new set of excuses and another cryptic Instagram post.
