The left-arm fast bowler, over Yuzvendra Chahal to become India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, achieving this milestone in his 61st match for India, taking his tally to 97 wickets. This achievement came during a crucial powerplay when Arshdeep was dismissed Phil Salt with a sharp bouncer in the first over and followed up with the wicket of Ben Duckett in the third over, effectively pinning England back early in the game.
With this performance, Arshdeep not only broke Chahal’s record of 96 wickets but also showed his form and potential, setting his sights on becoming one of the fastest to reach 100 T20I wickets worldwide.

Arshdeep makes a playful apology to Yuzvendra Chahal
After the game, Arshdeep talked about his performance and how Team India played. Arshdeep expressed his happiness and gratitude, acknowledging that his hard work has finally paid off. He shared his determination to maintain his form and continue to contribute to the team’s success by picking up crucial points for the country, underlining his commitment to perform at his best on the international stage.
“It feels great, I’m grateful that my hard work has paid off and I’ll try to keep riding for the country.” Arshdeep said in a video shared by the BCCI on Instagram.
Before he finished, Arshdeep presented a light-hearted moment of camaraderie and humor by playfully apologizing to Chahal for outdoing him. With a smile, she said “Yuzi Bai” and touched his ears, mimicking an apology gesture in a fun and attractive way.
