Who is in the fourth round?

The third round of the FA Cup often serves up the mythic magic that has become synonymous with England’s oldest cup competition.

The Premier League and Championship clubs now enter the FA Cup to throw their weight around against lower league opposition, many of whom have endured a grueling and long journey to reach the third round.

Every season the third round conjures up some mouth-watering and unknown matchups, but only 32 teams could secure a safe passage to the fourth round.

Cardiff City, Everton and Fulham kicked off the third round of the FA Cup, all triumphing in their encounters on Thursday night. Aston Villa emerged victorious in an all-Premier League battle the following night, upsetting West Ham United during Graham Potter’s first game in charge of the Irons.

Liverpool, who last won the competition in 2021/22, advanced to the fourth round with 4-0 win over League Two side Accrington Stanley. Trent Alexander-Arnold starred after a difficult week at right-back and Federico Chiesa scored his first goal for the club.

Chelsea secured a similar high-scoring win over their League Two rivals, beat Morecambe 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. Alongside Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix secured an emphatic win and the Blues will be joined by Bournemouth, Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest in the fourth round.

The biggest surprise of Saturday’s FA Cup fixtures was Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 win away at Brentford. Morgan Whittaker scored the winner in the Pilgrims’ final game before Miron Muslic took over from the recently sacked Wayne Rooney.
