Women’s Premier League: Complete schedule for WPL 2025. Royal Challengers Bengaluru to take on Gujarat Giants in opener

THE Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025the world’s premier women’s T20 cricket tournament, is set to deliver another sensational season.

The season will kick off on February 14 with a big clash between the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Giants (GG). The opening match will be played at the newly built BCA Stadium in Vadodara, kicking off a season that promises new benchmarks for women’s cricket.

Allocation of venues for WPL 2025 matches

For the first time in the history of the WPL, the tournament will be held across four venues – Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Mumbai – marking a major expansion from the previous editions. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the much-awaited schedule on January 16, detailing a total of 22 matches in this third edition.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 will be played across four iconic venues, each contributing to the tournament’s vibrant schedule. Vadodara’s state-of-the-art Kotambi Stadium will act as the inaugural venue, hosting the first six matches, including the curtain-raiser between Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on February 14. Bengaluru’s iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will then take center stage , hosting the next eight matches — most of the four venues selected.

This series will feature crucial matches with champions RCB, promising high-energy matches at one of India’s most historic cricket grounds. Lucknow, making their debut as a WPL venue, have received four matches in the group stage. This marks a major milestone in the tournament’s history, bringing premier women’s cricket action to the city for the first time. Finally, Mumbai will play a pivotal role in the latter stages of the tournament. The city will host two matches of the league stage and the two knockout games at the prestigious Cricket Club of India (CCI).

The playoff format remains unchanged from last season. The team that finishes at the top of the league standings will secure direct entry to the final. Meanwhile, the second and third teams will face off in the Eliminator on March 13, fighting for a place in the grand final scheduled for March 15. This structure ensures that every match carries weight, making the league stage fiercely competitive.

Following the successful single-header format, WPL 2025 will see all 22 matches played as stand-alone events. This approach ensures uninterrupted focus on every game, maximizing audience engagement in both stadiums and broadcast platforms.
