Women’s Super League: Vivianne Miedema requires target line technology after a day of dispute in WSL games | Football news

Vivianne Miedema called for the introduction of target line technology following a dispute reigning in the women’s Super League on Sunday.
Miedema denied what she thought should be a second goal in Manchester City’s 2-1 win in Spurs after a target line clearance. Down in Brighton, Lauren James scored Chelsea from the repetitions of the television they showed was an offside position.
And there were also two main incidents in Arsenal’s 4-3 victory at West Ham at the last start that caused mixed screenings.
The Netherlands International Miedema had given Manchester City a premature lead in their Tottenham match before the host hit behind Beth England.
Miedema then saw a header of the second half acrobatics cleared from the line by goalkeeper Ash Neville, who turned the ball against the bottom of Crossbar and outside.
The ball seemed to have crossed the line, but, with only one race camera and no target line technology in the Brisbane Road, no target was given.
Miedema: WSL is worth the technology
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports news After the game, Miedema said: “It seemed to me (that the ball had crossed the line).
“But I think this is the next step we need to take, target line technology regardless of whether or not it comes in.
“I think we deserve it as a championship and I would really like to see them changes coming to the game very quickly.
“We always push to be better and the level of the championship develops so fast – and I think such things can’t be left behind.”
Aoba Fujino slowly scored the second half to finally secure a 2-1 win.
Christiansen: Brighton will not be happy with James Goal
WSL Chelsea leaders lost 2-1 to Brighton when England International James was leveled for the reigning champions in the 61st minute.
But James seemed to be offside, as Mayra Ramirez’s initial shot was well -saved by goalkeeper Melina Loeck, but was not identified by the officials. James put the recovery at home and, without VAR, the target stood.
Sports Pundit Izzy Christiansen believed that Chelsea benefited from a touch of good luck with their equalizer.
“It’s lucky for Chelsea because a point has been saved,” Christiansen said.
“This decision, in another game, could have been given as offside.
“Brighton has been holding for the last 15 or 20 minutes … but I don’t think they will be happy with this (James’ goal) a piece.
“But in the big plan of things, the show for Brighton is currently the most important thing. Of course the result is important, but the manager will be really happy with his team’s game.”
Asked if he thought James was offside for her goal, Brighton’s boss Dario Vidosic said: “It’s hard to say from the corner we have.
West Ham Boss Skinner: I have to see the third goal back
West Ham ran to a premature lead at Arsenal via two goals from Amber Tysiak, but the second Tysiak caused protests by some Arsenal players who felt Lia Walti had stumbled upon accumulation. Without VAR in place, the target is allowed to stand.
Arsenal finally continued to win the thriller seven goals with Leah Williamson scoring to make it 3-3 in the second half of London’s Derby with a header that was judged to cross the line.
West Ham Rehanne Skinner boss praised her players after the game, but was critical of the official.
“I’m proud of players’ efforts today,” he said Sky Sports.
“I need to see the third goal. Because I’m sure it doesn’t cross the line. It is important to look back at it.
“We didn’t see this part of the game enough and it was there that he was removed from us.
“There were so many fouls that were not given. There are many questions over it. There was also a pull-back at the edge of the box, as we were to shoot and were not given.
